Stillwater's Noah Gade was named Thursday as the Gatorade Oklahoma Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Gade won the 6A state championship this season. He was the top Oklahoma finisher at the 2012 Foot Locker South Region championships, placing eighth.

Gade became the first boys runner since 1996 from Oklahoma to qualify for the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships, where he finished 36th.

Gade will run cross country for Oklahoma State University in the fall.

HAYDEN WOOD BOUND FOR OSU

Hayden Wood still has two seasons of high school golf ahead of him, but the Edmond North junior will follow in his father's footsteps after that.

The son of Champions Tour player Willie Wood, Hayden Wood has verbally committed to Oklahoma State, where his father played collegiate golf.

Wood was a conference and regional champion as a sophomore, and finished fourth in the Class 6A state tournament last spring. He was named a Rolex Junior All-American in the summer, along with Jenks' Brendon Jelley, another OSU commit.

DALE'S ANDERSON HEATING UP

Since losing twice at the Tournament of Champions, the Dale boys basketball team has won five straight games, and forward Evan Anderson is a big reason why.

The 6-foot-5 senior is averaging 19 points and nine rebounds per game for the season, but he really picked up the pace lately.

In leading the Pirates to three wins and the Konawa Tournament title last week, Anderson averaged 27 points and had at least 15 rebounds in each contest.

Ranked No. 5 in Class 2A, Dale visits 4A McLoud Friday night, then gets back into tournament play at the Pottawatomie County Tournament in Shawnee Monday.

FORMER PC NORTH DIVER HONORED

Former Putnam City North diver Amy Kilby of San Jose State was recently named Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week for the third time this season.

The senior had two top-10 finishes in last weekend's Bruin Diving Invitational hosted by UCLA to earn the award for the second straight week.
