Cantrell is one of eight finalists, and the winner is to be announced in June at a banquet in Des Moines, Iowa.

Cantrell began coaching the girls tennis team at St. Mary in 1995, and created the school's boys team in 1996.

MORRIS IS BULLDOGS' VERSION OF KENDRICK PERKINS

Edmond Memorial center Shaquille Morris only scored seven points in the Bulldogs' 62-50 win over Edmond North in the championship game Saturday of the Edmond Open basketball tournament.

But much like Kendrick Perkins of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the 6-foot-8, 260-pound Morris contributes in ways that don't show up on the stat sheet, said Edmond Memorial coach Shane Cowherd.

“The impact of what he does on the floor on both ends in occupying so many bodies opens up opportunities for others to make plays,” Cowherd said.

“He would like to have a bigger impact scoring as most kids would, but he played a very, very solid game in all aspects for us outside of the foul trouble.”

Morris has signed with Wichita State.

WESTMOORE BASEBALL TRAVELING TO FLORIDA

Westmoore's baseball team will travel to Pensacola, Fla., in March to play in the 20th Annual Aggie Classic.

The tournament, hosted by J.M. Tate High School, will run March 18-21 with the championship game played at the home of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

The tournament features 22 teams.
