High school notebook: Western Heights ready for boys soccer playoffs after unbeaten season

Western Heights is 12-0 this season and will host Guymon in a first-round playoff game Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The 5-foot-10 freshman will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the tryouts, which begin May 23.

Jackson averaged 8.5 points and 7.0 rebounds for the Wolves, helping Santa Fe reach the Class 6A state tournament.


Deer Creek's Ananaba signs with Tulsa

Deer Creek senior Otugo Ananaba, who has been one of the state's top sprinters the last two years, signed with Tulsa last week.

Ananaba won the 100-meter title at last year's Class 5A state meet and picked up silver in the 200. He's among the favorites in both events this year. He also contributes on relay teams, with hopes of helping Deer Creek repeat as the team state champion.


Owasso's Bobo on watch list

Owasso infielder Trae Bobo was one of 10 players recently named to MaxPreps' national baseball player of the year watch list.

Bobo is believed to be leading the nation with 14 home runs for the undefeated Rams, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 6A.

He has also driven in 41 runs.

Owasso also remains at No. 4 on the site's national rankings, which recently expanded from 25 to 50.

No other state school is ranked.
