•The "other” Clarke: The Class 3A boys and girls state tournaments are flooded with Clarkes.

Rotnei Clarke, and coach Kelly Clarke, who is Rotnei's uncle, will try to lead Verdigris to its first state finals appearance. Rotnei's sister, Cassie, will try to help Verdigris' girls to a first-round upset over Millwood.

Rocky Clarke, the Washington girls coach, and uncle of Rotnei and Cassie, faces Kansas today in the 3A girls quarterfinals.

One Clarke, though, is missing out on the state tournament fun.

Rocky's son, Case, is a junior guard for Washington's boys team, which fell short of the state tournament by losing twice in regionals.

"We have all been there the last two years in a row, and it's really frustrating to not be there with them,” Case Clarke said. "It is like a family reunion.”

•Memorial hires coach: Tulsa Memorial didn't have to go far to find its new football coach. The Chargers recently named Matt Hagebusch to the position. Hagebusch served as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach to Mike Adams. Adams resigned after last season.
