Softball: Sydney Garcia, Moore

A new coach (Stephanie Riley) and a new position (shortstop) haven’t slowed down one of the most consistent players in the state. Garcia has made sure Moore hasn’t dropped off after losing so much from last year’s team.

Volleyball: Sallie McLaurin, Carl Albert

The 6-foot-2 senior has second-ranked Carl Albert focused on a Class 5A state title after starting the season 7-2. McLaurin, one of the top middle players in the state, has already committed to Oklahoma.

Cross Country: Jori Davis, Piedmont

The senior and two-time state champion picked up right where she left off last year. In her first meet of the season, Davis bested the field by nine seconds at the Southern Nazarene Preseason Challenge on Saturday.

Cross Country: Dustin Barrier, Norman North

Barrier was the top finisher among city-area teams at the Southern Nazarene Preseason Challenge. The senior placed fourth behind winner Victor Others of Ponca City and two Broken Arrow runners. Barrier’s time in the 4K race was 12:59.
