Gargasz taking over at QB

With only four returning starters in all, El Reno has several holes to fill, the most prominent at quarterback.

Ridge Gargasz has stepped in at QB after playing receiver last year, and the offense seems to be coming together around him.

"We're good together," running back Devante Moore said of his relationship with Gargasz. "We don't quite have that connection yet, but when the season gets here, we'll get it together."

Linebacker was a key position on last year's El Reno team, with Tank Mulanax and Cory Dauphin. Multiple players played well at linebacker Thursday night.

New faces at LB for Irish

Linebacker was the core of the Bishop McGuinness defense last season, and with a stout defensive line, the coaches hope to see some development from the new faces at the LB position this fall.

"Coming in, we felt like our front four would be the strength of our defense," coach Kenny Young said. "We've got two new safeties and really, three new linebackers.

"Brandon Nguyen at middle linebacker has played really well in both scrimmages and I think we've got some ability at outside linebacker as well."
