High school soccer: Defending state champion Norman North advances, beats Norman

The Huskies will host Jenks in the state semifinals on Tuesday night.

HERITAGE HALL 3, CAPITOL HILL 0

Heritage Hall remained unbeaten by scoring three second half goals to defeat Capitol Hill.

Matt McLaughin scored twice for the Chargers while Connor McGinnis added a goal. Goal keeper Daniel Paugh posted his eighth shutout of the season. Capitol Hill finishes the season at 10-4.

The Chargers host Tulsa East Central in the semifinals on Tuesday night.

GIRLS

EDMOND NORTH 3, PUTNAM NORTH 0

Edmond North's girls scored three goals in the second half to defeat Putnam North, 3-0, on Friday night in the Class 6A quarterfinals.

Breezie Pedersen scored four minute into the second half off a corner kick from Kayci Kersten.

Two minutes later, Pedersen scores again off a corner kick. Courtney Dike finished the scoring off a pass from Sydney Legaard.

The Huskies will host Jenks in the semifinals on Tuesday night.

DEER CREEK 8, CHICKASHA 2

Mikayla Lowery scored three goals as Deer Creek defeated Chickasha, 8-2, on Friday night in Class 5A quarterfinals girls' soccer action.

Kelsey Taylor scored both goals for Chickasha.

CARL ALBERT 2, NOBLE 1

Carl Albert gave Noble its first loss of the season as the Titans advanced to the Class 5A girls soccer quarterfinals.

“They handled us pretty well,” Noble coach Larry Worden said. “We just never could get anything going. They just physically whipped us. They were stronger and faster.”
