The state championship game will be played Friday night somewhere in the Oklahoma City area, but the time and place has yet to be determined, Deer Creek coach Misty Thompson said.

Santa Fe South has reached the Class 4A state title game for the second straight season after defeating Fort Gibson, 2-1 in Fort Gibson.

Paul Incorvaia and Edgar Moreno scored goals for the Saints while goalkeeper Nazareth Hernandez had 10 saves, including a huge one in the last five minutes of the game.

“The guy looked like he was going to score and he came up and made the save when we needed it,” Santa Fe South coach Wes Furley said.

The Saints, who lost to Mount St. Mary in the state championship game last season, will meet Poteau on Saturday night at the University of Tulsa for the state title. Poteau defeated Bethany 4-1 in the other semifinal.

At Poteau, the Bronchos' John Page scored early in the second half to tie the game, and then the Pirates scored three goals in the next five minutes.

“It went from 1-1 to 4-1 real quick,” Bethany coach Sean Williams said.

Bethany finished its season 12-6.
