High school soccer players to watch: Putnam City West's Josue De Paz, Carl Albert's Courtney Essary among area standouts

Here are some other metro-area soccer players to watch this season:


Mauro Cichero, Sr., Norman North: Last year’s All-City Player of the Year is a natural player with the talent to compete on the national level.

Josue De Paz, Sr., Putnam City West: An under-the-radar talent who has signed with Oklahoma Baptist.

Austin Gordon, Sr., Heritage Hall: Senior leader on a talented Charger team returns several players from last year’s state championship run.

Colton Haskin, Sr., Mustang: Very experienced, and one of the tougher midfielders around.

Trevor Moore, Sr., Edmond North: Signed to be a field goal kicker at North Texas, Moore leads the defending champion Huskies.

Luis Martinez, So., Putnam City: Only a sophomore, but off to a great start as one of the top scorers in the state.


Abbey Bright, Sr., Edmond North: Headed to OSU, Bright anchors the Huskies’ defense with her speed.

Karla Cabello, Sr., Putnam City North: The strong-legged Cabello scored 24 goals last season.

Lana Duke, Sr., Edmond Memorial: A gifted defender who will continue her career at Oklahoma State.

Courtney Essary, Sr., Carl Albert: A versatile midfielder, Essary hopes to help the Titans back to the state finals after last year’s runner-up finish.

Hannah Frogge, Sr., McGuinness: One of the state’s best goalkeepers, Frogge has signed with UC-Santa Barbara.

Lexi Jones, Sr., Mustang: The Bronco forward is a master with the ball and a tough player in traffic.

Bri Kuestersteffen, Sr., Norman North: The Alabama-Birmingham signee leads one of the west’s best 6A teams.
