High school sports: Noble-Shawnee baseball, Mustang-Edmond Memorial soccer among week's big events

Noble has been one of the biggest surprises in the state this year, using solid pitching to run to a District 5A-4 title. But the Bears haven't played any of the 5A powers from the Oklahoma City area yet this year.

Baseball

Class 5A No. 5 Noble at No. 11 Shawnee

When: 5 p.m. Thursday

Where: Shawnee High School


The story: Noble has been one of the biggest surprises in the state this year, using solid pitching to run to a District 5A-4 title. But the Bears haven't played any of the 5A powers from the Oklahoma City area yet this year. So while the Bears' playoff path looks set, the game figures to be a barometer on where Noble matches up.

Soccer

Mustang vs. Edmond Memorial

When: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday

Where: Edmond Memorial High School

The story: A battle of two top-10 teams in the final game of the season for both boys and girls. In the girls' game, No. 8 Mustang and No. 6 Edmond Memorial are tied atop the district standing. In the boys game, No. 7 Edmond Memorial is trying to clinch second place in the district while No. 10 Mustang must win to have any chance for the playoffs.
