High school track: Kuriean Cary, Jamee Moore among athletes to watch

Both Edmond Memorial teams will bring several contenders in multiple events. Here are some athletes from other teams to keep an eye on at the Class 5A and 6A state track meets.

Both Edmond Memorial teams will bring several contenders in multiple events. Here are some athletes from other teams to keep an eye on at the Class 5A and 6A state track meets Friday and Saturday in Yukon.

Boys

Kuriean Cary, Yukon: One of the state's top discus throwers, Cary has thrown over 170 feet.

Norman distance runners: The Tigers have the chance to pile up points in individual distance events and the 3,200-meter relay.

Stefan Johnson, Putnam City North: The only 6A high jumper in the state to clear 6 feet, 10 inches, which he did to win regionals.

Taylor Lewis, Moore: Lewis has thrown over 58 feet, the best in the class this season.

Caleb Corprew, Midwest City: Only a sophomore, Corprew is a contender in the 300 hurdles.

Hunter Swink, McGuinness: One of the few runners in the state to break two minutes in the 800.

Walker Cross and Zac Brown, Guthrie: Cross has 5A's best time in the 1,600, and Brown could score in both throwing events.

Austin Wallace and Otugo Ananaba, Deer Creek: Wallace is one of the few hurdlers in the state to break 40 seconds in the 300 hurdles, and Ananaba will contend in the 100 and 200 runs.
