High school wrestling: Important dates for the season

A look at some dates to circle for the high school wrestling season, including the Geary Tournament and Dual State.

Dec. 17: Tuttle at Perry. Tuttle, winners of five straight 4A championships, faces off with traditional 3A power Perry.

Jan. 10-11: Geary Tournament. Field includes 6A No. 1 Edmond North and No. 2 Broken Arrow, 5A No. 1 Collinsville and No. 2 Lawton MacArthur, and 4A No. 1 Tuttle.

Jan. 28: Stillwater at Broken Arrow. Both teams are ranked in the top 25 nationally, with three wrestlers each ranked in the top 20 of their weight class.

Feb. 4: Collinsville at Cushing. 5A No. 1 Collinsville goes on the road to face 4A No. 2 Cushing.

Feb. 15: Dual State. The 3A and 4A dual tournaments will be held at Cushing, with 5A and 6A at Yukon.

Feb. 28-March 1: State Tournament. All four defending champions — Edmond North (6A), Collinsville (5A), Tuttle (4A), and Perry (3A) — are the preseason favorites.
