High school wrestling: Oklahoma's Fix, Gfeller win titles in Brazil

Two of Oklahoma’s most talented high school wrestlers starred at the Pan American Cadet Championships May 3-4 in Recife, Brazil.

Sand Springs’ Daton Fix (54 kg/119 lbs.) claimed gold in freestyle and Greco-Roman, and Hertitage Hall’s Kaden Gfeller (50 kg/110 lbs.) won gold in freestyle and bronze in Greco-Roman. Both went undefeated on their way to winning state titles as freshman last season.

The U.S. Cadet team (ages 15-16) also won team titles in both styles at the event. Oklahoma was the only state with two wrestlers on the seven-man roster.

Fix was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the freestyle tournament after winning all four of his matches by technical fall.
