Oklahoma high schoolers on their horses ride down costs

CHELSEA — The clopping of hooves permeates the early morning darkness as headlights on a Rogers County road silhouette a group of unconventional commuters.

Five teenagers on horseback yield, moving the animals into a ditch.

"We own the road,” Chelsea High School senior Arron Remmer said.

"Until a car comes,” said sophomore Dalton Nelson.

Mixing pleasure with energy conservation, several Chelsea High School students are trading in their keys for reins, sometimes riding a horse to school.
