A change on defense was all Del City needed.

After starting the season 0-2 while running a 4-2 formation, the Eagles' coaching staff decided a switch to the 3-5 that assistant Ricky Oliver ran at Westmoore was worth a try.

Two wins later, it's apparent that was the right choice.

“There's holes in it and people make plays, but you're also playing against good athletes,” Del City head coach Nick Warehime said. “We've played four really good football teams and as they learn the defense and continue to get better we'll be better defensive team.”

The Eagles limited Class 5A state runner-up Lawton MacArthur to just 69 yards on the ground and picked off quarterback Ricky McCarty four times.

In Week 3, the Eagles limited Midwest City to just more than 200 yards of total offense.

McLOUD ENJOYING TURNAROUND

McLoud already has won more games this football season than it did the previous two years combined.

The Redskins (2-2) posted their biggest win in four years Friday night by rallying from 18-point halftime deficit on the road to defeat Glenpool, 36-25.

Nathan Clark's interception and 15-yard return for a touchdown to open the second half flipped the momentum for the Redskins.

“That just changed it for us,” said McLoud running back Klayton Adams, who had two rushing touchdowns in the game.

McLoud trailed 25-7 at halftime but outscored Glenpool 29-0 in the second half.

“Our kids kept believing,” McLoud coach Eric Cardin said. “They showed some character coming back at Glenpool.”

Junior quarterback Joseph Wood rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns while passing for another score.

“We just kind of put (it) on his back in the fourth quarter,” Cardin said.
