EDMOND — Oklahoma, Stanford, Memphis and San Francisco are among the college basketball programs Edmond Memorial point guard Jordan Woodard will choose between when he appears live on NewsOK.com at 5 p.m. Thursday to announce his decision.

The announcement will be available to view live at NewsOK.com/Varsity as Woodard appears with his family and coach Shane Cowherd to give his verbal commitment.

Woodard has long said he hoped to commit before the season, and thus, be able to sign during the early period, which opens Nov. 14. Verbal commitments are nonbinding.

Woodard averaged 13.1 points, 4.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 steals as a junior as he and brother James Woodard led the Bulldogs to the Class 6A state finals, losing to Tulsa Union. Jordan Woodard was the starting point guard on Edmond Memorial's state title team in 2011 as well.

Oklahoma was the first team to offer Woodard, that coming last August as coach Lon Kruger began to emphasize his pursuit of in-state players. Memphis and San Francisco, which have been recruiting many of the state's top players the last couple of years, offered shortly after, and Stanford came in later.

Kansas coach Bill Self, a former Bulldog himself, also showed interest, as did coaches at Iowa, Kansas State and a few other schools.

With the departure of Douglass point guard Stephen Clark to attend a Las Vegas prep school, there's no argument that Woodard is the top senior player in the Oklahoma City area and one of the two most recruited prospects in the state. He's joined on that list by Tulsa Washington's Juwan Parker, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who verbally committed to Georgia last week.
