Last week, Stillwater junior Brandon Prather found himself in the starting lineup for the first time this season, and the athletic guard took full advantage of the opportunity.

Prather averaged 14.0 points per game during two huge wins for the Pioneers, who upset then-No. 6 Edmond Santa Fe and Class 5A No. 1 Bishop McGuinness, earning Prather The Oklahoman's Boys Basketball Player of the Week honor.

Prather scored 19 points against Santa Fe, one less than teammate Carson Teel. But McGuinness' tough defense kept the ball out of Teel's hands, so it was Prather and Garrett Christian who stepped in on offense to avenge a Jan. 7 loss to the Irish.

With wins in seven of their last nine games, the Pioneers have moved up to No. 12 in the Class 6A rankings and have a chance to add to the momentum against a favorable February schedule.
