NEWKIRK — More than 1,300 homes and businesses were without power Tuesday morning after high winds knocked down a power line Monday, Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority officials said.

Utility officials expected to have power restored to the city by Tuesday afternoon. Peckham Road in Newkirk was closed Tuesday morning due to structures lying in the roadway, utility officials said.
