Christian music group Hillsong United and Nickelodeon TV stars Big Time Rush are bringing their current concert tours to Oklahoma City's Chesapeake Energy Arena this summer.
On the heels of its most successful Billboard 200 album debut, Hillsong United has set a June 15 Oklahoma City show for its U.S. tour, “WelcomeZion.”
Touring in support of its recent international release, “Zion,” the worship band will play at 12 venues, including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver.
The Australian-based group has a long history of sold-out shows in the United States. The band became the first Christian artist to ever sell out Los Angeles' Staples Center, according to a news release. Since 2006, Hillsong United has toured six continents and 42 nations.
After a two-year wait, the band released its widely acclaimed new studio project, “Zion,” in February, and the album earned the international worship band its highest ever Billboard 200 debut at No. 5, according to the release.
“Everything we do as United, from writing and recording these songs, to playing them in front of people and all the production, is an expression of a really extraordinary God doing what only He can do through really ordinary people who love Him and want to serve Him,” said frontman Joel Houston in the release.
Nick TV series
Big Time Rush and Victoria Justice are bringing their “Summer Break Tour” to Oklahoma City for a June 30 show.
Actor/vocalists Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena Jr. and Logan Henderson make up the pop band Big Time Rush and star in the Nickelodeon series of the same name, set to begin its fourth season this spring.
Justice, 20, has starred in the Nick series “Zoey 101” and “Victorious” and released several singles from the latter. She played the lead role in last year's Nickelodeon feature film “Fun Size.”
