Hiroshima beat Sendai 2-1 to take J-League lead

TOKYO (AP) — Sanfrecce Hiroshima retook the J-League lead on Saturday night with a 2-1 home victory over Vegalta Sendai.

Yojiro Takahagi scored the winner in the 78th minute to break a 1-1 tie and lift Sanfrecce back to the top of the table with a two-point edge over Vegalta with nine rounds of play remaining.

Kazuyuki Morisaki had given Sanfrecce the lead with a strike in the 48th, but Shingo Akamine replied for the visitors in the 70th.

Vegalta dropped to second with the defeat, and leads third-place Urawa Reds on goal difference.
