Historic horse returning to Shawnee Published: April 4, 2013

SHAWNEE -- Navajo Britches, among the most noted live products to come from the Shawnee area, is coming home.

Actually, it's a replica, painted to look like the Appaloosa Hall of Fame member. It will stand outside Joe Cooper Ford, the Shawnee News-Star reports.

The original Navajo Britches won hundreds of shows and contests throughout the country. Though not a racehorse, Britches sired several renowned racehorses.

Britches was inducted into the hall of fame in 2002, 24 years after he died in 1978.
