— Hundreds of books go on sale Friday at the Friends of the Norman Library’s annual Better Books Sale. The sale continues through Sunday in the Lowry Room at the library, 225 N Webster Ave.

The sale will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Books in more than 60 categories will be offered, including popular fiction, classics, biographies, foreign languages, hobbies, business, science and sports. The sale also will include a selection of hard-to-find, out-of-print books and coffee table editions.

All books in the general sales area range in price from $2 to $5. Paperbacks will be 50 cents or $1, depending on size. Selected collectors’ books or special editions are individually priced.

Area residents donate all the books in the sale. Only books in good condition are accepted.

Proceeds from this and other Friends book sales are used to provide the Norman Public Library with funds for programs, materials, equipment and books that are not funded through other sources. Book sales also help to financially support the children’s Summer Reading Program and other year-round events.
