One of Hobby Lobby's early retail concepts, Basket Market, is still serving bargain shoppers at 1501 S Meridian, south of Interstate 40. The wholesale store's aisles are filled to the brim with baskets, of course, as well as silk and dried flowers, ribbons and wedding supplies.
The concept began in 1989 — 17 years after Hobby Lobby was founded. Of several affiliated companies from the 1980s, Basket Market and Mardel, started in 1981, are the two still in operation. Hemispheres fine furniture first opened in 2001.
Basket Market opened as a floral outlet. Over the years, it evolved and now attracts decorators interested in home decor and deal seekers looking for samples and closeouts.
The store is a wholesaler but is open to the public, accepting tax IDs but not requiring them. Sales and specials are separate from Hobby Lobby.
