— A section of eastbound Interstate 40 in Midwest City was narrowed to one lane Monday afternoon after state work crews discovered a hole in the roadway.

A 1-foot-by-1-foot hole was found by state Transportation Department workers. The hole has caused crews to narrow the road to one lane between Sunnylane Road and SE 15.

The closure is expected to last through the evening rush hour.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route, such as Interstate 35 to Interstate 240, or I-35 to U.S. 62, Transportation Department officials said.
