"And there is one episode right in the middle of the season that is kind of an homage to the entire series that I think fans are going to absolutely love.

"And then we have this finale that lasts perhaps the last four episodes which I think are unexpected and allow us to do interesting things. The ending is exciting for this character.”

Among the storylines the final season will explore include a new phase in Grace’s relationship with her partner and lover Ham Dewey (Kenneth Johnson), a major life change for Capt. Kate Perry (Lorraine Toussaint) and Earl (Leon Rippy) steering Grace towards a destiny even he doesn’t understand fully.

"This has been a real family,” said Hunter, who is also an executive producer on the show along with series creator Nancy Miller from Oklahoma City. "So it was very hard to say goodbye to some of those folks and to this family of characters.

"But ‘Saving Grace’ was arduous, intense, relentless work, and I devoted myself to it in all those ways. So I really want to kind of hang out now, not work and just enjoy my life.”
