• Oklahoma Horticultural Society, 7 p.m. Tuesday at the OSU Agriculture Resource Center, Room 194, 400 N Portland. Al Sutherland, Oklahoma Mesonet coordinator, will speak on “Weather Impacts in the Garden.”
• Apogon Iris Garden Club at 11:30 for lunch Wednesday at Van's Pig Stand, 717 E Highland, Shawnee. Hosts are Biddy Wilson and June Tucker. A trip to a lavender farm in Shawnee will follow. Call 773-4443.

Workshop
2012 Master Gardener program, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Aug. 23 through Nov. 8, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 601 E Robinson, Norman. The Cleveland County Extension office is currently accepting registration for the 2012 Master Gardener program. Cost is $100 per person, which supplies each student with a soil test, several detailed educational manuals, as well as research-based information provided by the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service. Classes are open to anyone with a genuine interest in horticulture, with a high school degree or equivalent.
