Women needed for Habitat project
Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for its seventh annual All Women's Build, scheduled for Sept. 9-26.
Oklahoma women are needed to volunteer to build a quality, affordable home for a hard-working, limited-income family in northwest Oklahoma City.
Lt. Gov. Jeri Askins is this year's honorary chairman. A free building class for volunteers interested in participating in the event will offer instruction in framing, decking and drywall installation.
The class will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Lowe's, 3801 N May Ave. The class is not required for volunteers.
The building site will be in Habitat's Hope Crossing Neighborhood at N Kelly and NW 83. For more information, call 232-4828.
Recycling program available for electronics
So, you've bought that big flat-panel television you've had your eye on for months, or that slick 30-inch monitor for your computer. Buying new technology is exciting, but getting rid of your old electronics is not nearly as fun.
LG has a new nationwide electronics recycling program that offers consumers a convenient and responsible way to recycle unwanted television sets, computer monitors and other consumer electronics products.
Products covered by the LG Electronics Recycling Program include LG, Zenith and GoldStar brands of televisions, monitors, audio equipment, videocassette players and recorders, DVD players and recorders, combination TV/VCR and TV/DVD units, set-top boxes and accessories associated with those products.
Consumers may drop off up to five LG-branded items at a time. There is no fee to consumers for the covered LG-brand products; other brands will be accepted, but a fee may be charged by Waste Management for non-LG brands.
Oklahoma City has two locations for drop-off:
•WM Recycle America LLC, eCycling Services, 5519 NW 4, 949-7563.
•CFF Recycling, 2600 W Sherdian, 231-2790.
