Home furnishing retailer West Elm, a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma Inc., is coming to The Triangle at Classen Curve.

A building permit filed with Oklahoma City for $800,000 shows plans for an 11,000 square-foot store near Anthropologie, just northwest of Whole Foods Market on NW Grand Avenue.

West Elm would be the first new national retailer to arrive at the shopping center since Ohio-based Glimcher Realty Trust bought the property last month from Chesapeake Energy Corp., along with the Classen Curve and Nichols Hills Plaza shopping centers and several acres of adjacent undeveloped land, for $51.8 million. Glimcher has said it would aggressively court big-name retailers to fill vacancies in the shopping centers and has hinted at further development in the area.

In an email, Glimcher spokeswoman Karen Bailey said the company is “very pleased with the leasing momentum at the property,” but the company declined to discuss the planned West Elm store.

Williams-Sonoma did not respond to a request for information about the Oklahoma City West Elm location.

The Oklahoma City location would be West Elm’s second store in the state. The retailer in February announced plans for a store in Tulsa’s Utica Square shopping center that is expected to open later this year.

West Elm is an upscale furniture store that features contemporary-style home decor.
