Oklahoma City police are seeking a driver who ran over a man Friday night and didn't stop.

Robert Paul Hayes, 56, was dragged about two miles and died of his injuries, police said.

According to a police news release:

• About 8:45 p.m. Friday, Hayes, a transient, lay down in the road near the intersection of SW 40 and Robinson Avenue.

• He was struck by a green 1997 Dodge Dakota pickup with a faded tailgate. The pickup dragged Hayes to around SW 29 and S Stiles Avenue, where he broke free of the truck's undercarriage. The pickup drove away.

• Hayes was struck by a second vehicle. That driver stopped.

It is not known why Hayes was lying in the road, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
