Oklahoma City police searched for a murder suspect Monday afternoon after he fled the building next to the Oklahoma County Courthouse.
Marco Ramon Butterfield, 20, was meeting with his probation officer when he was told a warrant for his arrest had been filed in a killing last week, police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Butterfield fled but was apprehended nearby by police, Knight said. The arrest warrant was for complaints of murder and robbery.
Butterfield is accused of robbing and fatally shooting Kevin Henderson Jr., 27, Thursday at 5916 NW 16.
According to the arrest warrant, a man pulled a firearm on Henderson while they were at The Fade Doctors Hair Clinic and demanded money from him. Henderson refused and the man shot him. Henderson tried to run away, but the man followed him outside and demanded money a second time.
Witnesses said Henderson reached into his pocket and gave the man his money before the man shot him a second time. Henderson fell to the ground and the robber fled the scene, according to the court document.
Butterfield, also known as Calico, was identified by two witnesses in a photo lineup. Butterfield has felony convictions for burglary in 2009 and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in 2012, according to the warrant.
Butterfield was taken to Oklahoma County jail Monday afternoon. His bail is not set yet, jail officials said.
