Hundreds of World War II veterans from across Oklahoma will be taken on charter flights to Washington, D.C. to view the war memorials in the U.S. capital.

Gov. Mary Fallin joined state lawmakers and World War II veterans Monday to solicit support for the Oklahoma Honor Flights program.
The program raises private funds to transport World War II-era veterans for a day trip to Washington. The inaugural flight took place last year.
Two flights are already scheduled for this year with about 100 veterans each. State Rep. Gary Banz says the group is trying to raise money for a third flight in October.
Banz helped start the flights in Oklahoma after his father participated in a similar program in Kansas.
