NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Hornets have signed former Miami Heat guard Terrel Harris to a 10-day contract.

Harris appeared in seven regular season games with Miami this season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 4.1 minutes before he was waived in early January.

The 6-foot-4 Harris was undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2009 and played professionally in France and in the NBA Development League before first signing with Miami in December 2011.

The signing comes two days after Hornets rookie guard Austin Rivers broke a bone in his right hand against the Los Angeles Lakers, and injury that is expected to sideline him four to six weeks.

New Orleans plays Saturday night in Memphis.
