12:20 p.m. After eluding animal welfare workers for several hours, the two miniature horses have been caught, officials said.

10 a.m. A crash has been reported as two horses continue to elude animal welfare workers, said Betsy Randolph, Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper. A vehicle driven west by a woman went off the road and struck a tree as traffic was backing up near Harrah Road. Attempts were being made to catch the horses when traffic started backing up, Randolph said. The woman's condition was not immediately available. The horses have not been caught, she said.

9:40 a.m. Two miniature horses remain loose on the north side of Interstate 40, an OHP spokeswoman said. Troopers do not want the horses to run into traffic, but all lanes are open, said Betsy Randolph of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The lost horses were spotted by a trooper about 4 a.m. When both darted from the trooper, he did not try to chase them for fear of the horses running onto the interstate.

“They're real skittish. Any time anybody tries to get close to them they run off,” Randolph said.

Anyone who knows who owns the horse can call the patrol at 425-2323.

8 a.m. Horses are loose on Interstate 40 between Harrah and Peebly roads in eastern Oklahoma City, police reported on Friday.

The loose horses were reported about early Friday morning. Animal welfare workers were asked to help round up the horses. Westbound lanes of I-40 are shut down, according to police radio reports.
