Hot days are ahead in Oklahoma with temperatures near 98 degrees Thursday, the National Weather Service reports.

More of the same is ahead next week.

High winds Thursday will gust up to 31 mph in central Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 103. South wind 14 to 22 mph with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 76. South wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 101. South, southwest wind 13 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 75. South wind 11 to 17 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 99. South, southwest wind 11 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 74.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 97.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 74.
