As fantasy football leagues around the country gear up online and offline, former Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson is among the hottest players to pick.
Peterson, entering just his second season in the NFL, is a consensus top 5 pick in most rankings, falling behind San Diego star LaDanian Tomlinson.
"No one will take him lightly this year," said fantasy football analyst John Borneman in The Sporting News. "But that shouldn't keep him from being one of the premier performers in fantasy football."
Last season, Peterson finished with 1,341 rushing yards on 238 carries and scored 12 touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 268 yards and a TD.
In just his eight pro game last season, Peterson set the single game rushing record, going for 296 yards against San Diego.
In this year's fantasy rankings, Peterson is ranked as the No. 2 overall player by Yahoo!, USA Today and NFL.com. He is ranked No.4 overall by ESPN's Talented Mr. Roto and No. 5 overall on CBSSports.com
"...There's little doubt that he'll be one of the first five players selected in drafts. Owners who do land Peterson should also be sure to draft (Chester) Taylor, who might be the best handcuff in fantasy football," Michael Fabiano of NFL.com
