Wednesday will be hot in central Oklahoma with a high temperature near 101 degrees, but rain could be coming Thursday, the National Weather Service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Wednesday: Sunny and hot with a high near 101. South wind 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 76. South wind 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 1 p.m. Partly sunny and hot with a high near 99. Heat index values as high as 104. South, southwest wind 16 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Thursday night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 72. South wind 7 to 11 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 98. East wind around 7 mph becoming south, southwest in the morning.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 76.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 100.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 76.

Sunday: Sunny and hot with a high near 104.
