Collin McHugh is listed as Houston’s scheduled starter Sunday afternoon at Minute Maid Park when the Astros host the Marlins.

After a solid five-inning rehab start with the RedHawks on Tuesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, McHugh thinks he’s ready. The 27-year-old right-hander said he had no issues with a broken fingernail on his middle finger, which forced him out of his last start on July 6.

“I think everyone was playing it by ear to see how tonight went,” McHugh said. “I didn’t have any problems with it and threw all my pitches for my strikes. I got a little exhausted the last inning, but I felt sharp, which is what I was hoping for.”

Throwing 80 pitches, McHugh allowed only one run and three hits with one walk and five strikeouts against Round Rock, the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate. McHugh gave up a single to Luis Sardinas to start the game, then retired 13consecutive hitters.

With one out in the fifth, McHugh issued his only walk to Jared Hoying, who stole second and scored on Brett Nicholas’ RBI single.

“It was really hot,” said McHugh, referring to a game-time temperature of 93 with a heat index of 101. “I hated to walk that guy the last inning because walks always seem to come around and score. But overall I felt good.”

It’s been a revival season for McHugh, who was 0-8 in two previous stints in the majors. After being cut by the Mets and Rockies last year, McHugh, a 27-year-old right-hander, signed with Houston. McHugh is 4-8 with a 3.28 ERA in 14 starts with the Astros.
