I also didn't realize we were in a drought. i had no idea that the Panhandle was suffering from lack of rain. I hate to hear that because it really hurts the farmers, which raises our food prices.

The panhandle is suffering significantly. Many of these posts are exactly why three of the wealthiest counties in the COUNTRY have for years felt like the step-child of the state of OK. It's more than about state money, it is also about what is probably the very last of America's remnants of the "cowboy." I grew up in Cimarron Co. and never really knew (or took the time to find out) what a remarkable place it is. This is about politics. The population in all 3 PH counties is sparse consequently so is state interest. Again guys, check out my response on the DO article yesterday. You know by that post what my real name is and search for me, it will be easy, and let me know if I can do anything to either help or raise awareness. BRM class of 71

Who the HELL is coming up with these stupid ass questions? What drought? We broke the all-time record for precipitation, add that to this year and average it out over the last three years and we're STILL above normal.

Yesterday I saw the yearly total vs. the average total for rain and we were at 15" for the year, while the avg. is 14". We're doing all right in the metro. The question must pertain to another part of the state.

It definitely is not as wet as last year. I can always tell by the size of our water bill. We have been having to water twice a day for some time now.

I agree, Kelli. Guthrie has flooded at least twice in the last year. The first day of the 07-08 school year was postponed because of the flood. Then it flooded again pretty badly in April. How do you define drought?

Didn't realize there was a drought, but I guess parts of western OK are hurting? It seems like we've gotten plenty of rain this year in the metro.

Have Family and Friends in Beaver County who earn their living by farming, and I own 320 Acres there too. There will be NO wheat crop this year due to the drought. Taxes and Insurance on the Farm Improvements will continue, and there's no money to pay them.
Yes, We DO feel ignored and treated as though We do not exist, 'til Tax time.
