Oklahoma State football: How do the Cowboys' season-ticket numbers stack up?

The Oklahoman did a random sampling of 10 schools that are similar to OSU in some way to see how the Cowboys compared with the rest of the country.

STILLWATER — More than two weeks ago, Oklahoma State set a school record for football public season tickets sold, surpassing the mark set last year of 36,651.

Coming into Thursday, that number had risen to approximately 37,490 public season tickets sold. Additionally, approximately 10,500 student season tickets had been sold.

But how does that compare to the rest of the country?

The Oklahoman did a random sampling of 10 schools that are similar to OSU in some way. Some are programs that have recently risen to prominence, like Stanford, Michigan State and Clemson. Others have a comparable stadium capacity like North Carolina and Louisville. Others are Big 12 foes like Kansas State, West Virginia and Texas Tech.

Here's a look at the results (note: all figures are as of Thursday morning).
