PRESTI'S DRAFT HISTORY
Selected: Forward Kevin Durant (No. 2 overall), forward Carl Landry (31st), center Glen Davis (35th).
Transactions: Traded guard Ray Allen and Davis to the Boston Celtics for guards Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and No. 5 overall pick Jeff Green. Traded Landry draft rights to Houston Rockets for cash and 2008 second-round draft pick.
Analysis: How fabulous Durant has been is well-documented, but Presti literally cried when he traded away Green this season. Landry and Davis actually were selected by Houston and Boston as part of their trades. Presti inherited a messy roster that had 13 players under contract and simply had no room to keep all his draft choices.
Selected: Guard Russell Westbrook (No. 4 overall), forward Serge Ibaka (24th), forward Walter Sharpe (32nd), center Trent Plaisted (46th), center DeVon Hardin (50th) and center Sasha Kaun (56th).
Transactions: Traded draft rights to Sharpe and Plaisted to the Detroit Pistons for draft rights to forward D.J. White. Traded draft rights to Sasha Kaun to the Cleveland Cavaliers for cash.
Analysis: Rarely, if ever, does a team get two All-Star participants from the same draft. Last season, Westbrook was chosen by coaches as a reserve and also was in the skills challenge, while Ibaka got underscored competing in the dunk contest. These might be two of the top five most athletic players in the entire league. Their potential is limitless.
Selected: Guard James Harden (No. 3 overall) and guard Rodrigue Beaubois (25th).
Transactions: Traded draft rights to Beaubois and a future second-round pick to the Dallas Mavericks for draft rights to center Byron Mullens. Traded cash to the Charlotte Bobcats for draft rights to guard Robert Vaden.
Analysis: After feeling his way through the first 1 1/2 seasons, Harden eventually came into his own when his role changed with the Feb. 24 trade that shipped Green and Nenad Krstic to Boston. Harden was asked to become more of a playmaker and take some pressure off Westbrook. Mullens unfortunately is caught in a numbers game at center.
Selected: Guard Eric Bledsoe (No. 18 overall), forward Craig Brackins (21st), forward Quincy Pondexter (26th) and center Magnum Rolle (51st).
Transactions: Traded a future second-round pick to the Miami Heat for draft rights to forward Latavious Williams. Traded Bledsoe draft rights to the Los Angeles Clippers for a protected future first-round pick. Traded Rolle draft rights to the Indiana Pacers for draft rights to forward Ryan Reid and cash. Traded cash to the Atlanta Hawks for draft rights to center Tibor Pleiss. Traded draft rights to Brackins and Pondexter to the New Orleans Hornets for Morris Peterson and draft rights to center Cole Aldrich.
Analysis: Aldrich played well during his three stints with the Tulsa 66ers in the Developmental League as a rookie. The Thunder believes he has terrific potential, especially defensively, which is where he is needed to contribute most. Trading the rights to Bledsoe gave OKC the protected first-round draft pick it used to obtain Kendrick Perkins from Boston.
