HOW TO HELP

Salvation Army

Interested in becoming a Salvation Army volunteer or making a donation to the nonprofit? Here are a few ways to help.

Bell ringing: Ring a bell for Red Kettle donations Nov. 22 through Dec. 24. More than 80 locations are available to choose from in Oklahoma County alone.

Angel Tree: Assist individuals as they select information from the Angel Trees at Penn Square Mall and Quail Springs Mall Friday through Dec. 11.

Thanksgiving: Help pack Thanksgiving meal boxes that will be given to families in need. Packing will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 23 at the Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area headquarters, 311 SW 5. Help distribute Thanksgiving food bags to older adults from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 25 at the headquarters.

Christmas Distribution Center: Help sort and organize gifts for the Christmas distribution. Preparations will be Dec. 5-17 in the area that formerly was a J.C. Penney store at Crossroads Mall, now Plaza Mayor, 7000 Crossroads Blvd. Volunteer shifts are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers ages 16 and older also are needed Dec. 18-20 to help guide Angel Tree families as they pick up gifts at the distribution center.

Stockings: Help stuff Christmas stockings for older adults in nursing homes around the metro.
