Don't know much about him other that he did marginally well during training camp. With the talent that OU has at all other positions, I think that a corpse could win 8 games starting as our QB.

Don't know and don't care, I thought NewsOK.Com went way overboard by sending out a "Breaking News" email to tell me which guy was chosen as U of O's quarterback. "Breaking News" should be 1. News, and 2. Important! This certainly is not.
Michael, Oklahoma City - Aug 27, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Sam is a leader and a winner. If Mike Leach wanted him as a quarterback, what more can you say. He will take OU where it needs to be. At the top.
Dennis, Bethany - Aug 24, 2007 at 6:44 am
Play Reggie Smith he is better then all of them! Go Sooners!!!

I believe he will be OK, he is smart enough to lead the team to victory.
Francis, Temple City - Aug 22, 2007 at 6:03 pm
Remember Florida Gators won the National Championship with two quarterbacks. Keith Nichol will not quit because Sam is the man. I look at Oklahoma being unbelievably fortunate to have these two guys steering the sooners into greatness. Then there is Landry Jones coming in next year from NMexico. Sam will be great and Keith will fill in the gaps, if there are any. Then there's Demarco Murray and ... lets play ball.
Walter, Houston - Aug 22, 2007 at 4:48 pm
he'll engineer blowouts against the likes of Miami and OSU. gumby will be pulling his hair out up in Stillwater and start to strangly resemble Pat Jones..

if you got a kid that comes in and is just as good as the other 2 that have been there over a year... you start that kid. "play-it-safe" bob will get his wins, but i don't predict greatness. (anyone remember hybl?)
debuke, okie - Aug 22, 2007 at 1:03 pm
I think Sam will do fine. He seems to have overall great athletic talent and is smart. He may turn out to be another Heupel. I also hope we get to see Keith play too, since he's such a great talent, much like Colt McCoy.

I certainly believe he has all the tools necessary to win at this level. During a recent press conference where Sam was speaking to the media, he had a presence a maturity that you don't normally see from someone his age. He will do fine we as Sooner fans just need to be patient and allow him to grow.
Randy, KNob Noster - Aug 22, 2007 at 10:51 am
He has the tools but the real test will come with Miami.

i would think both wilson and stoops are really in a tight. at this point they can't afford to have joey as backup, therefore, keith nichol is the back-up and it is like putting both finely-tuned engines in the same race and not holding one back for the next season while you are fortunate enough to have an adequate back-up engine for this season. no such luck. of course, things could be worse. your team could be the aggies. milton tulsa l.a.
milton, tulsa - Aug 21, 2007 at 11:25 pm
I think Bradford was the best choice for winning NOW. With so much talent around him, he has the tools to get the ball to the playmakers and avoid mistakes.
Aaron, Garland - Aug 21, 2007 at 10:10 pm
Aginst N.Tx he should do just fine. Sept.8 we'll see what kind of sand his got. Good Luck Sam, stay within your game. GO BIG RED

I believe that you have to get Keith on the field. He has great abiltity to get things when the play breaks down. Sam is going to be a good steady QB and that is what the coaching staff is looking for. I do believe that if you get Keith on the field things are going to happen.
Daniel, Virginia Beach - Aug 21, 2007 at 7:17 pm
Bradford and Nichol will do well as QB's at OU. They bring different talent and much of the same to a program that needs a great leader. I think we will see them both excell in the next four years. Just BEAT tEXASS!
Robert, Denver - Aug 21, 2007 at 6:34 pm
Randall, Blanchard - Aug 21, 2007 at 6:31 pm
Naming him the starting QB was key for Bradford. He can start getting more snaps and progress faster with each and every play. It should slow the game down a little more with more experience. He was good at everything he did in high school, but now that he is concentrating on one sport he can excel. I think he is underated and will surprise alot of people. The first scrimmage was a horrible for all the QB's but he has stepped up and will be fine. But he needs to keep improving because Kieth will!!!!
Brian, Okemah - Aug 21, 2007 at 6:19 pm
I guess we won't know until we see him play. Only a week and a half until kick off. I can hardly wait. GO SOONERS!!!!!!!! Kick some mean, green a$$!!!!!

It's a tough decision for OU coaches. I really think that the final decision of who gets the nod will not be made until after the 3rd game. Bradford is very talented.

First true test will come in 2nd game against UM since the talent level will be more equal in that game. Guess is that Sam will be fine with some mistakes along the way and some big plays also.

I hope he does better than the 15 interceptions he threw is senior season in high school.

Sounds like a winner to me. We pay the "big bucks" to BS to make those decisions, now we get behind them.

All he has to do is be smart and don't take unnecessary chances. At least not until he gets more comfortable in front of 75,000 screaming OU fans! GOOD LUCK TO HIM! AND GO OU!!
Michael, Yukon - Aug 21, 2007 at 2:29 pm
I think that everyone at Gaylord stadium will be behind him. All he needs is 100% of fan support right now. He will do just fine.

Sam Bradford will do just fine as the OU quarterback this year. Sounds like all 3 OU qb's are loaded with talent. When you have a coaching staff like OU has, coach's who know how to bring a young player along at just the right speed, plus having that player be talented enough to be an OU quarterback in the first place, it's just a win-win situation all around. Boomer Sooner! Beat Texas !!
Jimmy, Garden City - Aug 21, 2007 at 1:12 pm
I hope he surprizes us, I know the idea is for him to be -safe- considering the outstanding receivers and running backs, and the tough defense. However, I hope that he is more than safe, but shows that he is a great passer and has the capability of Jason White-like numbers, and put the score into the 40s and 50s like we saw so many times with Jason White...
Stretch, Ada - Aug 21, 2007 at 12:53 pm
He'll be fine. He's worked hard, and he has good coaching in Wilson, Sumlin, and Heupel.
