Hugs Project seeks items for care packages
A nonprofit project in Oklahoma City that sends care packages to military service members is seeking donations and volunteers, organizers said.

Much needed are nonplastic coffee mugs without gold on them, condiments from fast-food restaurants and beef jerky, as well as other items currently listed on the website.

“When I'm tired, I just remember — they're even more tired. When I'm cold — they're colder. When I'm hungry — their tummies have a constant growl,” Hugs Project Executive Director Karen Stark said.
Presently the operation is open four days a week with expectations to send 5,000 parcels next week. Volunteers are needed to assemble packages at Crossroads Mall, 7000 Crossroads Boulevard, Suite 1048. Hours of operation are: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m. to to 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The nonprofit group also is collecting money to help defer postage costs.
Tax-deductible donations are accepted year-round.
