Hundreds attend Seventy Five Club's fall dance

by Helen Ford Wallace Published: October 7, 2007
Members of the Seventy Five Club had their fall dance at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. Two hundred people attended the event that convened with cocktails at 7:30 p.m. A gourmet dinner featured beef tenderloin; for dessert, chocolate fudge cake and berries were served, with a "75” in powdered sugar on the plate. The social club was formed in the 1930s with 75 members. New members and their wives are Phil and Toby Walker, Zach and Alison Taylor, James and Carol Hampton, Paul and Jane Austin, Clay and Holly Healey, Roger and Peggy Collins, Barry and Anne Gray, and Lee and Sherry Beasley.

Partiers included Linda and Steve Garrett (club president), Becky and Jim Buchanan, Jeary and Mike Seikel, Gene and Ed Barth, Dede and Bob Benham, Ann and Tom Flesher, Linda and Ron Bonebrake, Anne and Win Holbrook, Sharon and David Wade, Carol and Mac Troy, Sue Ann and Dudley Hyde, Pam and Bill Shdeed, Patty and Roland Tague, Mary and Phil Truss, Kay and Gates Oliver, Bette and Jim MacKellar, Marty and Robert Margo, and Karen and Earl Ingram.

VINTAGE TREASURES • Junior League sustaining members met in the home of Linda Lee Carpenter for a party. They were asked to bring a "vintage treasure” (antiques, linens, lamps or china) for The Remarkable Shop. And they did just that. The 120 attendees brought silver serving items, Limoges boxes, an antique clock, a bronze lamp with a glass shade, a child's rocking chair and some antique linens. The serving table was draped in ivory satin and lace. On the menu were cucumber sandwiches, roasted red pepper cheesecake, hot pecan dip, cheddar and strawberry ring, and assorted desserts and sugar cookies made by Linda Garrett in the shape of fall leaves and acorns. Guests included Carol Sue Taylor, Nancy Greer, Ranell Brown, Sue Spradling, Susan Robertson, Kaye Cook, Sally Bentley, Polly Nichols, Martha Mullally, Betsy Hyde, Cathy Cross, Karen Luke, Ann Garrett, Karen James, Kitty Champlin, Elaine Jackson, Marty Margo, Phyllis Wheeler, Patti Marshall, Linda Kennedy Rosser, Betty Jo Law and Jonna Kirschner.

GRAN ENTERTAINS • Jackie Jones (also known as Gran) invited friends to meet her grandson, Benjamin Carter Jones, 6 months. It was a sip-and-see party, and the baby was wide awake for it. Bouquets of white roses decorated the table, and tea sandwiches and party cookies were served to the guests at the come-and-go event.
