CHICAGO (AP) — A winter storm dumping more than an inch of snow per hour has forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights at Chicago's airports.

The city's department of aviation says airlines have cancelled more than 350 flights at O'Hare International Airport Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, visibility at O'Hare has narrowed to less than a mile.

Airlines at Midway International Airport have cancelled more than 100 flights for the day.

City aviation officials are reminding travelers to check the status of flights with their airlines before heading to the airports.

Chicago is in the forecast zone expected to get the heaviest snow totals. The weather service says as much as 8 inches could pile up before the storm tapers off later Saturday.
