Many said they cried when they wrote entries into the guestbook for Jamie Rose Bolin on NewsOK.com. I cried when I read through their entries. Debbie Moore of England had seen a photo of Jamie one day on the Internet, but didn't know why her picture was posted. However, since Jamie was the "spitting image of my own daughter,” she saved the photo and told her daughter there was another little girl who looked just like her.
"It was later on that I found out why I had seen Jamie's photo and I cannot describe, in words, how that made me feel, it is like looking at my own daughter,” she wrote just days ago. "I am so sorry for her father and send my deepest heart felt condolences to him.”
Largest guestbookHow far has the hurt of this horrible tragedy reached? We don't have a definite answer. But the guestbook was at 135 pages within a few hours after Friday's guilty verdict against Kevin Ray Underwood. In fact, Jamie's is the largest guestbook hosted by NewsOK.com. In addition to the entries from Oklahoma, the guestbook had been signed by people from 41 states and eight countries. Her murder has touched people from Purcell, where she lived, to Brazil, Singapore, Kuwait and many other places. While some comments are recent, others go back to April 2006, soon after the 10-year-old was found dead. Who has signed? Parents, grandparents and the countless who hurt. Some people wrote an entry early on and then returned later just to let the family know they were still thinking of them and still mourning with and praying for them. Some of those who have signed the book knew Jamie personally. "Rose has forever left her smile in my mind,” wrote De Anna Taylor of Purcell. "I remember each time she was in my computer class, she always had a smile, and something kind to say to each one.” Taylor wrote that she hoped to pass Jamie's smile on to others. Her fifth-grade language arts teacher Lesley Jennings wrote: "Rose was a shy and quiet little girl, and a joy to have in class. Guest Book: Jamie Bolin
