Hundreds of residents in cars and trucks lined up Saturday to dispose of unwanted hazardous waste materials during the city's household hazardous waste event at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Old paint, car batteries, pesticides, car tires and pool chemicals were among items collected, city officials said.

The event had been rescheduled after a tornado forced the city to cancel a collection set in April. Officials say the annual event will be switched to the fall on a permanent basis to avoid complications caused by spring weather.
