Hunter fatally shot in Latimer County accident; charges could come
GOWEN — A deer hunter was fatally shot in a Latimer County accident that occurred less than 24 hours after Sheriff Israel Beauchamp, citing the onset of hunting season, greatly reduced the number of people searching for a missing Eufaula family.

• 2008: A 67-year-old man was killed by an accidental discharge from a muzzle loader. The victim was in a deer stand in Comanche County and was shot when he was pulling the firearm up to his stand without a haul rope.
• 2007: An 18-year-old man was killed when a friend tried to shoot a feral hog.
• 2006: A 40-year-old man was shot to death when his muzzle-loading pistol fell from his holster and discharged while he was crossing a barbed wire fence.
• 2005: A 16-year-old was shot and killed when he tripped and a friend’s shotgun discharged and hit him at close range. Source: Wildlife Conservation Department
