COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Hyundai Motor America said Friday that its president and CEO, John Krafcik, will step down at the end of the year after five years as head of the auto company. David Zuchowski, the company's executive vice president of sales, will succeed him on Jan. 1.

Hyundai Motor America, based in Costa Mesa, Calif., is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Co. of Korea.

Zuchowski joined the company in 2007 and has previously worked at Mazda North America and Ford Motor Co. in various leadership positions.

Hyundai's executive vice president and chief operating officer Im Tak Uk said Zuchowski has been instrumental in the company's growth and should help it reach new heights.
