IDABEL — When Idabel police officer Matt Robbins died last summer in a motorcycle accident, one of his friends and co-workers began a quest to change a state law.

Robbins, 40, was killed June 28 on a stretch of State Highway 37, just outside the Idabel city limits, when a driver trying to pass on the two-lane roadway ran him off the road.
